Special thanks to the Helena Knitters for Peace. These lovely folks knitted over 120 hats for us to distribute during our service trip 2011. The resident elders at the Jampalang Elder Khang in Dharamsala ALL received beautiful hand knitted caps. They were so appreciative and asked several questions about Knitting for Peace, one very old Ani cried and asked to send blessings for long life to all the knitters.

We also brought hats to each of the young monks at the Dubdi Monastery in Yuksom , Sikkim. Each young monk got to pick out a new hat. They were very happy.

The Helena Knitters for Peace Group will be knitting 300 caps for the 2012 service trip and we THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND WORK FOR PEACE

TCEF is excited to welcome Lama Paljor also known as Kushu Penjo la, for his second visit to the USA. He is expected to arrive late September and remain until the end of November.

Lama Paljor has been an inspiration to many. He has dedicated himself to the service of the poorest communities in Sikkim where he has built and manages schools and an educational Hostel . TCEF is honored to collaborate with him through our sponsorship program. In 2010 H.H. the Dalai Lama recognized Lama Paljor’s exceptional social service projects and encouraged him to continue this important work.

We are just now putting together the schedule of events. Please contact us if you would like to host an event with Lama Paljor. He is looking forward to seeing ALL of his friends and meeting new ones.

This tour is to raise money for the much needed Computer Program at Sukhavati Hostel in Sikkim.

In 1959, the People’s Republic of China invaded Tibet. Every year March 10th marks the anniversary of the uprising of the Tibetan people in response to the occupation. It was at this time the Dalai Lama, spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet was forced into exile in India. Over 100,000 Tibetans followed and every year hundreds of Tibetans continue to risk their lives crossing the Himalayas seeking political, cultural and spiritual freedom.

Tibetans were welcomed and granted refuge status in India. It is here they set up their democratically elected Government in Exile. The Tibet struggle continues based solidly in the tenants of non violence.

A 2008 conference of Tibetan leaders chose to support the Dalai Lama’s Middle Way Approach. Tibetans voted to continue working for the liberation of Tibet through non violent strategies despite the many human rights violations and cultural oppression of Tibetans in Tibet.

Tibetan culture in Tibet is critically threatened. This culture based on loving kindness and compassion survives in exile, though influenced by the culture of the host countries. It is of great benefit to the world that this culture survive.
Support of the Tibetan people and their cultural preservation through programs such as TCEF gives support and hope to the Tibetan people.
